Review on IT303 project - " The Theme Park"

This project was overall a challenge to me, because all the tasks that were set had to be complete at a good standard. All the tasks required knowledge of how to use the program( especially Photoshop and Dreamweaver) and how to make things look attractive to the eye. my theme park which is named Everland, required thought to all the rides, attractions, services and many others to make it an outstanding place for all ages. My theme park consists of different rides sort by catergories - Adult, Family and children. All the rides are well thought and thrilling which will suite all ages.

The task that I enjoyed most was creating the poster, because enjoy playing around with photoshop. I blended the images together to create that effect, and it turned out alright. The powerpoint presentation was another task that I enjoyed doing because I was confident in using Microsoft Powerpoint, so I could get the best out of it. I was proud of the result of my presentation overall. The leaflet and the website wasn't my best item that I produced, but I was glad I was able to complete it, and that I fun producing the website while refreshing my memory on how to use Dreamweaver.

By doing these tasks, it has taught me how to successfully produce a website and create a poster using the skills that I have learnt earlier this semester. It was definately time consuming and very stressful because I feared that I could not finish it in time. But in the end, I was able to produce something satisfying.

WIki & Web 2.0 tool presentation

Wikispaces allowed me to learn about how to work as a team. We were able to link to other people's pages and also add things to it. Wikispaces is a convenient website for presentations. Our task was to research a Web 2.0 website that relates to multimedia. I chose to do my presentation on Picnik because I find it interesting to use. Picnik allows you to edit images the most convenient ways. I would recommend people to use Picnik as it creates wonderful results. I enjoyed doing this task because not only did I learn about Wikispaces, but also on the varieties of different social networking sites that are available. There are many things in the World Wide Web that I have no clue about.

xtranormal videos

We did a task on xtranormal.com - creating a video to year 7's about the school. The theme I chose to do was cyberbullying. I enjoyed creating storylines and making the videos humerous. I also enjoyed watching other people's videos and finding out their sense of humour. The reason why the videos were funny was because of the character's monotones. It made the whole video funny to watch.

Web Design & Development

Three of my favourite websites:
1) Facebook.com - I go on this whenever I get access to internet to check on any notifications etcc.
2) Youtube.com - This is the most common website for viewing videos.
3) Hotmail.com - To check my mail? o.o

Three of my least favourite websites:
1) Brentwood homepage - Loading problems & I see it too often because it is the school internet's homepage.
2) Ask.com - A very dodgy search engine
3) Neil's toolbox - Really bad website for bibliography.

IT303 Magazine Challenge

Original picture:
I used the lasso tool to cut her out and pasted her onto a background. Then, I changed the colour of her dress to yellow to make it look sharper.

Then, I added a flower on her head for decoration~

Magazine Cover:
The background i used was originally brown. I changed the colour by playing around with hue and saturation. I decided to make it green because green is nice?
But overall, I am happy with my magazine cover, and since this is the first time that I've used Photoshop, it was a good attempt :]

Collage

This is a collage that I created. I used the lasso tool to blend the images together , & yeaah. :)

Experimenting on blending

In this tutorial, I learnt how to blend images to a background and make it appear as if it was originally in the photo. Although i failed to blend the first image with Kirsten standing up...
But good enough for a first try :]

Original copy.

I enjoyed using a tutorial because it was easy to follow, and was detailed. I have learnt to use an image and create a blur background.

PNG, GIF, JPEG

GIF:
GIF images are compressed and are used to transfer across slow connections. It can be used for logos, line drawings and icons, and does not work in photographs. GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format.
-------------
PNG:
PNG is a better version of GIF with 24 bit in colour. The letters PNG stand for Portable Network Graphics. It is the third newest file format used today.
--------------
JPEG:
JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group, and is best in photos and natural sceneries. It supports 16.7 million colours, but some details might be lost when resizing the image.

# What does the term "Lossy" mean?
Lossy is the term for
jagged edges or pixelated areas.

This image is a trial on photoshop - using the lasso magnetic tool. First of all, I learnt about the basics of photoshop and how to cut images neater instead of using paint. My favourite part of completing this task is looking at other people's work & their creativity.

Self Introduction

My name is Emily Kwan. I enjoy using the computer a lot, and I like to sneak on whenever my parents aren't around. I also enjoy listening to music.
I have around 20 fishes in my aquarium and pond. I don't really like them because they don't do much.
I go for Essendon, but I don't watch AFL. In my opinion, PS3 is better than Xbox, and FACEBOOK PWNS MYSPACE. (: &&,, PC > Mac.

Now you know a little bit more about me, I shall shut up. :]
